Tovarna Rog

Havahduin sellaiseen tosiasiaan, että tänään bussit kulkevat sunnuntaiaikataulun mukaisesti. Kävin tänään vanhalla Rog -pyörätehtaalla, joka on nykyään taiteilijoiden ja muiden kulttuuristen tapahtumien lähiö. Oli tarkoitus käydä myös Fužinen linnassa, mutta en jaksanut kävellä. Olisi sinne tosin päässyt bussillakin. Lisäksi hylätty ulkoilma uima-allas jäi näkemättä. Enkä tiedä, onko se otettu käyttöön uudelleen. Ehkä joku toinen päivä.

Ensi keskiviikkoon asti keskityn poikaystävääni, joka tulee tänne tänään. :)

In English:

I realised that the buses run according to sunday schedule today. Didn't matter because all the sights I wanted to see today, were open places. Rog (Tovarna Rog), the old bicycle factory, which is nowadays a cultural and social center, also a skate park can be found indoors. I was supposed to visit at the Fužine Castle also but didn't get there because I was too tired. Also an abandoned swimming pool outdoors was left out of sight. Maybe on another day.

In the next few days I'll be focused on my boyfriend who's coming today. :)

Labor Day

Vapunaatto alkoi töiden merkeissä. Onneksi ei ollut pitkä päivä. Kämpillä päästyäni suihkun ja purtavan jälkeen laittauduin iltaa varten. Seitsemän jälkeen Suomen aikaa juttelin porukoiden kanssa Skypessä.

Kahdeksalta suuntasimme STA Travel Cafén viikottaiseen Couchsurfing -miittiin. Siellä oli jo muutama paikallinen odottamassa. Ostin kahvin ja menimme istumaan heidän seuraansa.

Jonkun aikaa juteltuamme oli aika lähteä Roznikin mäelle katsomaan, millainen on vappu Sloveniassa. Kävelimme Tivoli Parkin läpi, ylämäkeen. Oli pimeää. Kaukaa raikasi musiikki. Kun viimein pääsimme määränpäähän. Mäellä oli satoja ihmisiä, kokko mukaanlukien. Miehet yrittivät epätoivoisesti saada sitä syttymään. Heittivät bensaakin, mutta sekään ei auttanut. Pian alkoi tulla kylmä, joten päätin lähteä pois.

Ilta oli mukava ja ihmiset mahtavia!

Celebrating the Labor Day/International Worker's Day in Rožnik Hill, Ljubljana on 30th of May 2014.

We had work from 9pm to 2pm so I wasn't quite a long day. Headed to the apartment and after a shower and some snack I started to get ready for the evening. After 7pm Finnish time I had a meeting with my parents on Skype.

At 8pm we headed to the STA Travel Café for the weekly Couchsurfing -meeting. There were few people waiting already. I bought a coffee and we joined them.

After a good while of chatting it was time to head to the Rožnik Hill. It's on the other side o Tivoli Park. We walk a long way until we got to the top where the party was, including the traditional bonfire, which didn't quite light up. Maybe they built it wrong and the wood was wet also. Men tried to throw petrol to fire it up but it didn't work. I was starting to get cold so I decided to leave.

The evening was successful and people were nice!

Tämä tarina kertoo reissusta Salzburgiin, Itävaltaan... Joo oli hieno linna ja puutarha. Satoi vettä. Jee jee. Itseasiassa tämä merkintä kertoo pikemminkin paluumatkasta.

Reissussa mukana olivat Aki, brasilialainen Greg (joka oli kuskina), kanadalainen Janice sekä Madzia, joka oli ilmeisesti puolalainen.

Salzburg ei ole mitään verrattuna siihen, mitä tapahtui matkalla takaisin Ljubljanaan. Valittiin pidempi reitti välttääksemme tiemaksut. Ei oltu ehditty edes puoleen väliin matkaa, kun vuokra-auton eturengas puhkesi. Tytöt lähtivät kysymään apua läheisestä talosta ja kohta eräs saksalainen(?) mies (joka ei puhunut sanaakaan englantia), tuli auttamaan. Me tytöt katselimme vaan vierestä.

Olen kerran elämässäni vaihtanut poikaystäväni autoon renkaat, hänen avustuksella tietysti, mutta puhjennutta rengasta ei ole tullut vastaan. Koko tilanne oli huvittava. Ollaan Itävallassa keskellä ei mitään, on pimeää ja kylmä. Pakkohan siinä oli vetää vitsiksi. Onneksi pääsimme kuitenkin turvallisesti takaisin Ljubljanaan, vaikkakin siinä vierähti useampi tunti. :D

In English:

This post is about the trip to Salzburg, Austria. Yea, the castle was awesome and the Mirabell garden too. It started raining. Awesome. Actually this post is mostly about the journey back.

I started the trip with my roommate/classmate Aki, Greg from Brazil, Janice from Canada and Madzia who is, as I assume, Polish.

The title says it all. Salzburg was nothing compared to what happened on the way back to Ljubljana. We took the longest way to avoid the highway costs. Somewhere in the middle the front tire broke down. Girls went to ask for some help and some German man (who didn't speak English at all) came to help us. Well, we girls were just standing and watching when the guys were changing the tire.

I've changed tires to my boyfriend's car with his help but I haven't had this kind of experience before. The whole situation was hilarious. We were somewhere up on the hill in Austria (in the middle of nowhere to be honest), it's dark and cold. We kept laughing about it. Luckily we got back safely, even if it took much longer than the other route.

What an ADVENTURE! I had a blast. :)

Botanical garden & shopping

"Pitkäperjantai" näytti venähtävän viikon mittaiseksi. Tähän päivään sisältyi shoppailua BTC:ssä ja kuvaamista. Kävin katsastamassa kasvitieteellisen puutarhan (harmittavaa oli, että trooppinen kasvihuone oli kiinni), sekä Žale hautausmaan, josta löytyi yksi kuvattava kohde.

Huomenna päiväreissulle Salzburgiin, Itävaltaan!

Good Friday turned to last a one whole week. Today was the day of shopping at BTC and some photographing in botanical garden. I also went to see the Žale cemetery, which is the largest cemetery in Ljubljana and Slovenia.

Tomorrow I'm off to Salzburg, Austria!
